Ancient Greece Foods
In Ancient Greece they ate bread dipped in wine for breakfast right after the sunrise. They also had similar food for lunch but along with olives, figs, cheese, and dried fish.
Supper was the main dish of the day. They consisted having vegetables, fruits, fish, and honey cakes. Since sugar wasn't that well known to the greeks at that time so they used honey as their main sweetener.
Fish was the main protein of the Greek diet. They rarely ate beef because it was very expensive. They gave meats such as pork and beef to the homeless during religious festivals, because pigs and cows were also sacrificed to the Gods.
Wine was their main drink. Milk was rarely drunk considered it was thought to be barbaric, they only used milk to make cheese. of course water was another option for drinking.
The Greek people had to use their hands for eating because they had no utensils. They used bread to scoop out thick soup and they also used bread as a napkin to clean their hands. The people would sometimes throw their bread on the floor for the dogs to eat or for slaves to clean up afterwards.
